Jignesh Pandya: Due Diligence

Jignesh Pandya is the founder and Chairman of the Rohan Group, a worldwide restaurant management and solutions company with headquarters in Philadelphia.

He made news in late September, 2016 with the announcement of a $70 million agreement between his Global Sports Ventures, LLC and the USA Cricket Association. The deal grants his organization the licensing rights to a professional American cricket league, which will fall under a Twenty20 league format.

“We have done our due diligence and based upon that, the deal has been finalized,” he told ESPN at the time. “We all have the same goal. USACA, [the United States governing body], the ICC (International Cricket Council), or any other cricketing body throughout the world is to develop and support the game of cricket which we all love in the US.”

Cricket ranks behind only soccer as the world’s most popular sport. In the United States the game is compared primarily to American baseball. But Jignesh “Jay” Pandya hopes to change that. Leading cricket authorities say it is possible than an American team may even get into the Cricket World Cup in the not-too-distant future. “We would like the U.S. to qualify for a major world event within the next eight years or so,” said the ICC’s David Richardson.

Jignesh Pandya is an Indian-American business tycoon. He was born in India and raised in Mumbai, but came to the United States when he was fifteen years old. He opened his first retail business when he was nineteen, and has seen that transform into a multi-million dollar empire that includes more than one hundred commercial real estate and retail businesses that provide jobs to more than twelve hundred people.
